Students of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University Visited ME Volynpryrodresurs as Part of Their Practical Training

On March 23, 2026, as part of their practical training in regional institutions and organizations, students of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University visited the municipal enterprise Volynpryrodresurs of the Volyn Regional Council. The visit was organized at the initiative of Olena Koziupa, internship supervisor, Head of Department, and PhD in Political Science.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to meet with the Director of the enterprise, Anatolii Kapustiuk, ask questions, and gain insights into work in the fields of public administration, natural resources, and the challenges faced by the enterprise. The meeting took place in the format of an open dialogue.
Students showed particular interest in how the enterprise’s activities began during the challenging period of 2014-2015, when amber extraction in the Volyn region was largely uncontrolled and widely carried out illegally. It was emphasized that the establishment of ME Volynpryrodresurs was a necessary step, as the enterprise covered all known amber deposit areas within the Volyn region.
The discussion also addressed amber extraction not only in the Volyn region but across other regions of Ukraine, as well as the global demand for Volyn and Ukrainian amber.
Students were especially interested in the practical aspects of amber sales, including whether it is sold as raw material or after preliminary processing. Anatolii Kapustiuk explained that the format depends on the market and the specific needs of each buyer. Based on previous years’ experience, each client has their own vision of the final product and specific requirements for raw materials. In particular, international partners tend to follow their own cultural and production traditions.

It was also noted that amber sales are carried out in accordance with the classification system of the State Gemological Center of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine (DKDK, ISSN 2079-1186, September 2025), ensuring transparency, standardization, and compliance with established requirements.
Special attention was given to the operational principles of the enterprise — from the organization of production processes to cooperation with state authorities and regulatory bodies. Students gained a comprehensive understanding of how a municipal enterprise operates in the field of subsoil use and the role it plays in contributing to the budget and organizing the industry.
The Director also provided a detailed overview of the enterprise’s structure, number of employees, and financial aspects of its operations, including rent payments, tax contributions, and revenue generation. Particular emphasis was placed on the principles of transparency, accountability, and efficient natural resource management that guide the work of ME Volynpryrodresurs.
Students also had the opportunity to express their independent views on the importance of effective interaction between different levels of governance.
During the visit, they were able to examine samples of amber and peat briquettes firsthand.

At the end of the meeting, it was noted that ME Volynpryrodresurs has ambitious development plans and continues to work on expanding its activities and improving its processes.
Anatolii Kapustiuk thanked the students for their engagement, thoughtful questions, and openness to dialogue. ME Volynpryrodresurs expresses its confidence in the younger generation of professionals, their potential, and their important role in the future development of the country.
